Dental Crowns

When almost perfect won't do, veneers cover a multitude of problems from a simple chip to misshapen teeth. It's the little extra that makes a big difference in your smile.

Crown, or cap for tooth, is a permanent covering that fits over an original tooth, and looks and functions just like natural tooth. We would recommend a crown if your tooth has enough decay that it cannot hold a filling, or if your tooth is cracked or broken and in danger of cracking down into the root if left unattended. Crown may also be required after a root canal. Crown fits snugly at the gum and protects what remains of the natural tooth.

Crowns are made of a variety of dental materials, including gold, porcelain, acrylic resin or a mix of these materials. Be particularly vigilant about brushing and flossing along the edges of your crown. Trapped food and plaque can build up around gum line and adjacent teeth and lead to gum disease or decay. Given proper hygiene care, crowns can last for years.
